Consult your HVAC professionals if the system is repairable. If the repair costs are too high, a better option would be to replace the system.

2.     Uneven temperature across the household

Is the temperature inside your house too high even when the air conditioner is running? Uneven cooling or heating is a sign that your HVAC system is not working efficiently. At first, make sure that your HVAC system is not too large for the house. If it is, it may cause a short cycle that leads to the automatic shutdown of the system. You can also look at the ductwork and see if it need replacement.

3.     Unusual noises

If you are hearing weird noises from your system, it can point towards some serious problems. A vibrating sound indicates toward a loose part and if it is a loud squeaking sound, it can be a problem with the motor.

4.     Bad Odor

Unpleasant odor indicates a variety of problems. If you are getting a bad odor in your house whenever the heating or cooling system is running, it indicates towards molds growth. Sometimes the excess moisture inside the unit can cause mold growth. Inspect the system for molds. If it’s all clear, check for leakage in the refrigerant.

5.     Too many repairs

If the yearly servicing and repair cost for your HVAC system is constantly rising. The best option would be to upgrade the system entirely. Get the system inspected and if the experts recommend for an upgrade, go for it.
