  • Most liquid drain cleaners use harsh chemicals that can be very dangerous to your health.
  • Many of these products contain an acid that can damage the pipes when it stays too long and it can even destroy expensive finishes and enamel in the bathroom and kitchen.
  • The chemicals in these products can also harm the environment especially when the residue left inside the containers get thrown away at landfills.

A lot of homeowners use liquid drain cleaners whenever a clog develops. But did you know that in many cases, this product can actually do more harm than good for your drain?

Many plumbers now say that liquid chemical drain cleaners are not actually good for cleaning drains. Many of these products try to convince consumers that it will be able to provide a quick fix for their plumbing problems when in fact, it can actually do a lot of damage.

Unfortunately, these acids can also corrode the pipe especially if it stays in it for too long. Liquid drain cleaners can also destroy expensive finishes in your kitchen or bathroom.

3. Pollution

The chemicals used in many of these products are not actually good for the environment. Residue can be found inside the bottles, and when it gets thrown away, the chemicals can harm the water or the earth.

4. Ineffective

Clogs can be caused by different factors, and because of that, there is no assurance that a drain cleaner will be able to fix it for you. If the clog is caused by problems in the sewer line, pouring chemicals will never be able to fix it no matter what you do.
