Homeowners need to choose a toilet wisely as different toilets have different efficiency rates that will help you decrease your water consumption in the bathroom.

Today, standard toilets consume as much as 1.6 gallons of water with each flush. This is actually half of what toilets made in the early 1990’s typically consumed per flush. There are also toilets which are more efficient than ever, using only as much as 1.28 gallons per flush. The use of an efficient design does not only mean having less water consumption, it can also mean less clogs.

Those who want to get a toilet with more power can always opt for pressure-assisted models. This option however, is only available for homes that do have adequate water pressure.

The pressure-assisted models are also quite noisy, unlike traditional ones that are much quieter simply because they only use gravity.

Aside from differences when it comes to their inward design, toilets also come in a variety of styles. You can choose two-piece ones that have tanks bolted to the bowl, or one-piece products that are much more elegant and easy to sanitize. Toilets that have more height are also available, as are ones that are ovular in shape for comfort and ease. For bathrooms with limited space, you can opt for shorter ones with a round shape so you can maximize the available areas. There are also wall-mounted toilets which can help you do more for your floor space.

Traditionally, white is the most common color of choice for the bathroom’s throne, but today, you can purchase ones that are in different hues and colors. You can even buy ones that are in jet black, so it can go well with your pressure-assisted flushing.

Depending on what you choose to buy, standard toilets can cost anywhere from $200 to $400. There are also high-end toilets that can provide you with a bidet, with an automated lid, as well as a seat warmer, these can cost you as much as $4000 and up. Installation on the other hand, can cost you a few hundred dollars for the standard models, increasing in price for the installation of complex ones.
